A skein of yarn is only the beginning.
Since 2010, we’ve been creating hand-dyed yarn in our Coffs Harbour studio, sharing our love of colour with people who find joy in making things by hand.
We’re Kristen and Paul, the people behind Skein. Our yarns are dyed in small batches on carefully chosen bases, selected for their softness, quality and the fabric they become. We love imagining where each skein might end up: a favourite cardigan, a shawl wrapped around your shoulders, or a gift made for someone you love.
Colour is at the heart of our work.
We find inspiration in the landscapes around us, the changing light and small details that catch our attention. Sometimes that becomes a palette of soft neutrals and earthy shades; other times, something deeper, brighter or a little unexpected.
Choosing yarn is part of the pleasure of making. We enjoy exploring how colours sit together and how different fibres bring their own softness, texture and drape to a project.

Our love of making carries through to everything we share. Through project ideas, colour guides and relaxed make-alongs, we hope to help you find combinations you love and feel confident trying something new. There’s room here for knitting and crochet, carefully planned projects and experiments with a basket of leftovers.
